Tubuh Kristus sebagai Gereja dalam Perspektif Paulus

Abstract

This paper shows Paul's view in Romans and Corinthians about the "body of Christ" and Paul's view in Deutero Paul about "the body of Christ" in Ephesians and Colossians. Paul's view of the "body of Christ" as the church (ekklesia) in a different context. In the context of Romans and Corinthian letters, the phrase "the body of Christ" describes the unity of the organs of the body as a metaphor for the unity of the members of the congregation in the church. Meanwhile, in the context of the letters of Ephesians and Colossians, "the body of Christ" describes the unity of the body's members who submit to the head with a metaphor to describe the church that is subject to Christ as the head. The understanding in the letters of Ephesians and Colossians describes the "body of Christ" in the context of the government of an ecclesiastical organization, where the congregation must submit to the bishop who represents Christ in the midst of the world. The author uses the library research method or literature study.

Abstrak
Tulisan ini memperlihatkan pandangan Paulus dalam surat Roma dan Korintus tentang “tubuh Kristus” dan pandangan Paulus dalam Deutero Paulus tentang “tubuh Kristus” dalam surat Efesus dan Kolose. Pandangan Paulus tentang “tubuh Kristus” sebagai gereja (ekklesia) dalam konteks yang berbeda. Konteks dalam surat Roma dan Korintus, ungkapan “tubuh Kristus” menggambarkan satu kesatuan organ-organ tubuh sebagai metafora dari kesatuan anggota jemaat dalam gereja. Sedangkan dalam konteks surat Efesus dan Kolose, “tubuh Kristus” menggambarkan kesatuan aggota tubuh yang tunduk kepada kepala dengan metafora untuk menggambarkan jemaat yang tunduk kepada Kristus sebagai kepala. Pemahaman dalam surat Efesus dan Kolose menggambarkan “tubuh Kristus” dalam konteks pemerintahan organisasi gerejawi, dimana jemaat harus tunduk kepada uskup yang mewakili Kristus di tengah-tengah dunia. Penulis menggunakan metode penelitian pustaka atau studi literatur.
