Abstract

The debate regarding the origin of humankind between the theological perspective of the Bible and Darwin's theory of evolution remains a compelling issue to this day, particularly with the advancement of modern medicine and genetics, which demonstrate the biological proximity between humans and primates. However, theological studies linking the biblical perspective, particularly Psalm 139:13, with the findings of modern medicine and genetics are still very limited, requiring in-depth study to bridge the two perspectives. This study aims to analyse the process of human creation based on the biblical hermeneutics of Psalm 139:13 from the perspective of modern medical theology and genetic science. The research method used is biblical hermeneutics with a modern medical theological approach and genetic analysis to understand the meaning of human creation holistically. The results show that the process of human creation in Psalm 139:13 is in line with modern medical science, particularly in embryogenesis, which describes God ‘weaving’ humans through highly complex and orderly genetic mechanisms. Analysis of the words qanah, cakak, and kilyah reveals the relationship between the creation of the human body, soul, and spirit, which reflects God's work holistically. These findings confirm that humans were created uniquely in the image and likeness of God, not as the result of evolution from other creatures, and enrich the theological understanding of medicine regarding the origin and nature of humans.
